😤 What really should be banned...
The number of books being banned in US libraries and schools has more than doubled in 2022 according the the American Library Association. As you'd expect, this is being driven by far-right political groups who want to prevent kids from learning about topics like racism and sex. Our newest design above reflects what Boredwalk thinks about book banning.
😋 Maybe I'm in the minority on this, but...
Don't get me wrong, I adore junk food, but I have a strong affection for leafy greens, too — especially kale. Dried as a chip, massaged with lemon/salt/olive oil, sautéed — it doesn't matter. I will enjoy kale in nearly any form. This is one of my favorite kale recipes*, but I have many.
🤨 Miss high school? Yeah, me either...
This occasion refers to the well-loved teen flick written by comedy genius Tina Fey, not those wretched girls you knew in high school who made fun of your clothes and now probably have an MLM "business." (No, Heather, I don't want to buy any essential oils. Stop messaging me on Facebook!)
You know what they say about fences...
It's National Good Neighbor Day! This coincides nicely with the happy news that after spending over a year looking for a new place, I'm finally moving and getting the heck away from my current neighbors.
Time to break out the stretchy pants! 🥞
Dating back more than 30,000 years, pancakes might be the oldest breakfast food in history (though you can have them for dinner, too). There's even archaeological evidence that pancakes were eaten in prehistoric societies. They're consumed around the world in varying forms, from potato to buckwheat.
You asked for it... 😻
We thought our tiger character was a perfect mascot for our vengeance fund*, but when we first announced the vengeance fund quite a few of you said you wanted a vengeance shirt, so here it is!
🙄 No, it's not just you...
Okay, you know this isn't my holiday. I authored an anti-gratitude journal, so you won't catch me pushing this holiday too hard, but here's what I will say about it:
Aaarggh, matey! 🏴☠️
Happy National Butterscotch Pudding Day! I guess. I dunno. Pudding is pretty far down my list of desserts, and butterscotch is a distant 2nd or 3rd behind vanilla and chocolate for me as far as traditional pudding flavors go. But maybe you adore pudding, and especially the butterscotch variety, in which case huzzah! Today is YOUR day!
Haters to the left...🥑
I know not everyone appreciates avocados, but that just means more avocados for me. Everything is terrible, and the only solace is a heaping plate of nachos with buttery yet spicy guac, tangy salsa, and gooey melty cheese. Gimme!
Color me chuffed! 😊
Playing with coloring books was not actually a favorite activity for me as a kid. As a neurotic little perfectionist, not being able to always neatly keep things inside the lines drove me crazy. As an adult though, I've found an appreciation for it.
😩 Feeling like it's the Mondayest of Mondays?
It's National Day of Encouragement, a skill I am sorely lacking when it comes to myself. If your year has been anything like mine and you're beating yourself up for it, I encourage you (and me) to go a little easier on yourself. At least that's what my husband/Boredwalk co-founder Matt would say. This is something I find almost impossible to do, so if you have that same tendency, you're not alone.
